Most of the Wrightson's on this page are descended from Anthony Wrightson of Yorkshire, who was in the service of Richard Aldborough of Ellingthorpe Hall (Ellenthorpe Hall), Boroughbridge, Yorkshire. Anthony was thought to be the Estate Agent & friend of Richard Aldborough. Anthony was of the 'Aristrocratic class'.

Richard trained in Medicine at Trinity College, Dublin and qualified in Surgery July 1878 Went to sea with the Blue Funnel Line. After this he bought a practice in Aldeburgh from a Dr Hele and was very popular in Aldeburgh.
Richard joined the Freemasons in Dublin, and they subsequently helped to complete the education of his children around the end of his life. The children all went away to School.

Notes : John had a brother named Ross in his Will of 1774 he left an annuity of £25 to both John & Martha
at the time of making the Will John seems to have been living in Dublin
The will of John Gyles (snr) dated 14 June 1745 bequeaths £100 to 'my Daughter
Margaret Wrightson'. It's reference number in PRONI is D/4160/A/3. The will
also states:

"In the name of God, I John Gyles of Dundalk in the county of Louth Gent do
make this my last Will and Testament in Manner and form following, first I
grant Devise and bequeath unto my Son Ross Gyles my Lands of
Castletowncooley in the County of Louth and his Heirs for Ever, and failing
issue male or female of the said Ross Gyles lawfully begotten I grant Devise
and bequeath the same to my Son John Gyles and his issue male and female
lawfully for Ever and failing issue I grant Devise and bequeath the same to
my Daughters Margaret Wrightson and Elizabeth Gyles equally between them the
said bequest to commence after the decease of my Said Wife."
